Potential issues with buyer
Hi everyone. Sold two separate auctions for shoes for the same buyer for well under what they’re worth retail. Buyer messaged me asking if I’d be willing to ship the shoes together to lower shipping. I told him I likely wouldn’t be able to because I thought eBay would give me two separate tracking labels and if I didn’t ship them both it’d think I never sent him the item. Come to find out when I went to print, it put everything on one label. Dropped it off and shipped it to the buyer but I never refunded him the extra cost. Tbh it was such a good deal even with shipping and I don’t know if I could even do that with basic seller account. Now the buyer says he received an alert that the package was out for delivery and he’s complaining that I ended up shipping in one package and never refunded him. Also, apparently he never took delivery of the package from UPS and now it’s at an access point for pickup next business day. This guy seems like a complainer but I did everything by the book as far as I can tell. Is there anything I can do to cover my butt in case he tries to complain to eBay? Thanks!

If the buyer refused delivery … you do NOT have to refund them per eBay’s policies. [That will not stop the buyer from requesting a chargeback from their credit card company, however.]
If the package gets returned to you … you can try withholding the amount you paid for shipping from the refund.

OP2 years agoOkay gotcha! It seems like the buyer is saying that UPS just didn’t wait for him to come to the door and now he has to go pick it up. He’s also saying I was shady for taking whatever eBay auto calculated for shipping and not refunding him the excess when I was buying the label. He did mention UPS left a pickup notice at his door so they are still in there possession

Your buyer can contact UPS and arrange for re-delivery.
