POSTCARD SELLER MAKING COPIES OF ORIGINALS
Summary: swinefeld raised a concern about a seller who downloads and resells images of vintage postcards without using watermarks, which affects both sellers and collectors. They suggested creating separate sections for original and copied postcards to prevent this practice, with violations resulting in account suspension. mr_lincoln noted that changes are unlikely unless many members raise similar concerns.
There is a seller of vintage postcards who is downloading the images posted by sellers (who don't use watermarks) and reselling them as copies. Although there is nothing technically illegal about this practice, I feel that is detrimental to both the sellers and collectors of vintage postcards. A possible solution that would satisfy all parties is to set up a separate section for ORIGINAL POSTCARDS and one for COPIES OF POSTCARDS. If the seller of the copies sells them in the original section it will be considered a violation and repeat violations will result in a suspension of their account with a possible expulsion.
Does this sound reasonable to anyone else?

Mentor2 weeks ago@swinefeld Just wanted to add that if you purchase a copy that was advertised as vintage then you can return it for a full refund within 30 days of the date of delivery per the eBay Money Back Guarantee. A not as described return over rules the sellers return policy. This type of case also goes on the sellers record and too many can really hurt a sellers account.

Mentor2 weeks agoHi @swinefeld
A lot of suggestions are reasonable. Unless thousands or more members complain or suggest the same thing eBay is not going to do anything about it.
