Postage fee for free shipping
I’m new to selling and I have offered to pay shipping on a very small T-shirt it will fit in envelope. Probably cost 1.00 or 2.00 to ship. eBay wants me to pay more than the shirt. How can I make this work?

Mentor1 week agoBTW--free shipping means you, the seller, pay for shipping. To do so, figure the cost of the item, add fees, add your cost, add the shipping from the furthest location and that is the total of the item's price to put on your listing. There is no such thing as free shipping.

Mentor1 week ago · EditedTracking is a seller protection and shipping without it is not advisable. Any buyer can claim that an item wasn't received and if you ship without tracking, you have no proof of delivery and must refund. I wouldn't ship anything without tracking.
NO package is that cheap to ship.

Mentor1 week agoIt will cost more than $1 or $2 to send a t-shirt. Sellers need to send packages with tracking. The minimum is Ground Advantage, most likely in the $5 range depending on the buyer's location.

The price of the item inside has nothing to do with the shipping price.
Unfortunately for all of us, USPS has recently changed the prices for various sizes and weights of packaging. We are all in the same boat with that. This may mean that you will have smaller profits (maybe even a loss) from specific individual sales. There really is no way around that.
When you buy your US Postal Service (USPS) postage/shipping label through eBay, using USPS Ground Advantage pricing, you will be given a USPS tracking number, so that you, your buyer, and eBay can all verify delivery of the shirt.
Delivery verification is crucial to dis-proving any Item Not Received (INR) claim that a buyer might file.
You could choose to send the t-shirt via USPS First Class Mail and possibly spend less money for postage. You cannot purchase USPS First Class Mail through eBay, however.
You may have to go to your local Post Office and buy the postage in person.
But USPS First Class Mail does not include a tracking number.
As a small-ish up-side, everything you pay for shipping of your eBay sales is, in general, deductible on your federal income tax return as business expenses.
