Postage
Bought an item and the seller messed up with weight and I had to pay the shortage of the postage. I never would have paid for the item with that amount of postage

Mentor1 week agoSeller is still responsible. You a have few options.
If you want to send it back, open a Return Request for an Item Not as Described. Seller will pay for the return and ebay will refund you.
If want to keep the item and you paid using PayPal open a dispute on PayPal and scroll to the very bottom of the list and choose postage due.
If you used a credit card file a dispute through them for the postage due.

Mentor1 week ago ยท EditedI know that you are well aware of what I'm about to say, but I thought I'd post it for a bit of clarity on your post, nothing more.
I would encourage ALL buyers to look to opening a claim in Ebay FIRST. It is easy and works great. The seller accepts the return, issues the return label, then after the seller gets the item back and inspects it, they issue the buyer a refund. The only time Ebay will refund the buyer is if the seller refused to do so and even then Ebay takes the money from the seller.

Mentor1 week agoYou should have refused the package because of the postage due. This would be covered by the eBay money back guaranty. Now that you paid the postage due eBay can only force the seller to repay what the received from you originally. They cannot force the seller to cover the postage due. Had the seller entered the correct information into the shipping section of the listing there should have not been any postage due.

OP1 week ago20 plus years on ebay and this is the first. Item sold for 87 dollars with shipping and I had to pay an additional 149 dollars. Ebay refunded me the 87 but im still out 149!

Mentor1 week agoWow, that is a lot of money. Ebay isn't going to refund that money to you. Maybe you can convince the seller to do that, but it is unlikely. The carrier may have made a mistake in the amount charged, so I would suggest you try to get the seller to share with you the dimensions of the package, how much it weighed and what method of shipment they selected. You may need to take what you ordered and the packaging to the PO to get your money back if they made the mistake.

Mentor1 week agoYou should have contacted the seller to send the amount due. Otherwise, have it returned for postage due.
First see if the seller will take care of this, otherwise come back with how you pay for the item.

Mentor1 week agoIf the seller will not refund, you may be able to leave appropriate feedback, whether that is Negative feedback or Neutral feedback.
Based on what you've posted in this thread, I believe negative feedback may be warranted.
Negative feedback is reflected in a seller's feedback percentage score.
If she currently has 100% positive feedback, a negative might take her down to 99% or 98%.
Neutral just gives her an ugly gray "doughnut" symbol on the feedback page, but does not decrease her feedback percentage.
In your feedback comments, be polite, honest, and direct. Paraphrase your original post here. "The weight of the package was not correct, and I paid $XXX in postage due." Don't call her names or make any comment of your perception of her intelligence or common sense.
BTW, she may have included eBay's Calculated Shipping in her listing -- probably all of her listings.
But if she entered incorrect package weight and/or size dimensions, the result is Postage Due. As you know, unfortunately.
Also unfortunately, she is not legally required to reimburse you for the postage due that you paid.
If it happens again, decide if you really need or want the Thing enough to pay more money at the Post Office in order to take delivery.

Mentor1 week agoThis doesn't have to be a "scam", it can be a honest error by the PO. See my other post where I suggested you take everything to the PO and see if they made the mistake. They have been known to do that from time to time.
