Post office not scanning packages
Is anyone else having a problem with the Post Office not scanning your packages when they pick them up or you drop them off?
My packages aren’t getting scanned as received until it goes to the next stop on the line - the sorting center which can be 1 to 2 days after I’ve mailed it.
Since my shipping date is the next business day, this makes my packages appear to be late even though some days, I’m able to ship same day.
I’ve called the post office and received 2 different answers. One person told me they don’t have to scan packages when you have a package pick-up request. The other person agreed with me that every package had to be scanned. So I started driving my packages to a neighboring town and watched them scan them. I had escalated the original issue and was basically told for my own peace of mind, I should drive the packages to the post office. Yesterday, I drove to the post office again, left the packages with instructions that they needed to be scanned and the woman said she would take care of it. Today, packages show as not received.
Anyone having the same issue and how did you solve it?

Carriers are supposed to scan items they pick up as accepted. If you know who your regular carrier is wait around one day until you see them delivering and ask them to add a note on their routes scanner's notes to always scan packages or envelopes with tracking.
When going to the P.O. do not leave items in the drop off bin, take them to the counter and do not leave until the clerk scans the package(s). I would also call the USPS customer service number and report your local P.O. by its zip code for someone saying scanning is not required, and them not scanning packages before sending them to a regional facility.

I’ve been selling for over 20 years and have never had this problem. The person that told me they didn’t have to scan packages was the postmaster at my post office. The person who told me to drive them to the post office for my own “peace of mind†was the escalation person from the Customer Service number. The postmaster had closed the case without responding to me so I escalated it. Unfortunately, the escalation point person was not very helpful.
I guess my only option is to take my packages to the post office and watch them scan or find another carrier
