Possibly scammed? How to respond?
I sold an item little over a week ago and today the seller is claiming they never received the item. I sold to a new seller which I didn’t notice as I’m fairly new to eBay selling. The item is about $200. I’m fairly certain I’ve seen this typical reply before. Am I screwed or will I be required to refund?
this is the message I received.
“On wednesday, I got a
notification that the package was delivered to a parcel locker. I searched mailbox room, parcel locker room, leasing office everywhere on my apartment & cant find it. I emailed USPS and they said that they'll invesitage it. Its been days & havent got any confirmation. Today (sunday) | searched around my apartment again & cant find it. USPS also cant provide any proof of delivery (photos/exact location)â€

What does tracking show from your end?
You did ship with tracking, didn’t you?

OP2 years agoI did yes. It says “Your item was delivered to a parcel locker at 6:34 pm on April 17, 2024†so obviously USPS says it was delivered. Just not sure how to go about this as it’s the first time I’ve been told something wasn’t received.

As long as you shipped to the address the Buyer provided at checkout and tracking shows it was successfully delivered to that address, you are covered by eBay Seller Protections. You can ask the Buyer to open an Item Not Received case. Once they open that case, you would need to enter the tracking into the case for eBay to close it in your favor. Do not refund.
When responding to your Buyer, show concern. You could say "Thank you for contacting me. I am sorry to hear you are unable to locate your package. Tracking shows it was delivered on April 17 to your address on checkout. Please open an Item Not Received case and I will respond."
In the meantime, eBay shows you received a negative with positive comments on another transaction. I would try to get that removed. On the eBay site is a Feedback Removal form. Best of luck.

OP2 years agoThank you for the help much appreciated. I was a bit worried. As I’ve seen scams like this happen before just didn’t expect it to happen to me. Also thanks for mentioning the negative feedback as well I contacted that seller too.

You are most welcome. If you contact the Buyer who left you the negative with the positive comments, you can ask if they would be willing to revise their feedback. If they say yes, you would need to send them a Feedback Revision request.
If you need any other assistance, please update this post. 🙂
