    Possible Scam Buyer

    Summary: triumphthunderbird shared an experience about a sale where they feel scammed by a buyer on eBay. Despite attempting to resolve the issue, they had to refund the full amount while the buyer kept the item. They are considering legal action and are unsure about the implications of revealing the buyer's information.

    I recently had a sale go bad, I believe this individual my have scammed me to get my item for free. I sold an item that the buyer claimed to be broken after dismantling it. He opened a claim on ebay and I lost the case and the appeal. I had to pay back their money $720 in which I only cashed out $507 because I had to pay the ebay fees out of my pocket. The buyer received a full refund a few week ago now and has not returned my item. So now they have my stuff for free and I am out of pocket the ebay fees and haven't received the refunded item. I spoke with customer service and still have not got a reply. Should I start outside legal action?

    Will i get in trouble if I reveal the buyer info to check if there has been previous issues with them?

    @triumphthunderbird ,

    You cannot post any member's username in order to name/shame them. The chances of any one of us having dealt with them before are 1 in 10,000,000 or higher.

    If you tried to dispute the return because of your No Returns policy, that is why you lost the case and the appeal. If a buyer claims an item was not as described, ebay's Money Back Guarantee (MBG) overrides your no returns policy. You should have sent the buyer a return shipping label. Seller's have to be aware of how the MBG works.

    You may have one recourse left to you, if the buyer sent that message through ebay. Buyers are supposed to return an item in the same condition in which it was received. The buyer saying they dismantled it may save you. You can try reporting them using the link below. First read the abusive buyer policy in the link then click on the Report a Buyer button. fill in the required info and when you get to the text box, write something like: The buyer received the item then dismantled it before attempting to mount it. They wrote that in a massage to me, which is why I tried to deny the return when they the filed a not as described dispute. Hopefully, the decision will be over turned and you will get a refund.
