Possible fraud?
Hi, a brand-new buyer account (created today) purchased one of my listings and then canceled the order right after. The account has no history, no feedback, and seems suspicious. I’m concerned this could be a scam attempt or affect my seller performance. I haven’t shipped the item yet. Any suggestions?

If the Buyer asked you to cancel then you can do that without getting a strike on your account. The cancellation process has 3 reasons to select from, the one where the Buyer requested the cancellation is the one you use.
You will get your eBay fees back as part of the process.
Buyers can only ask to cancel, they can't actually cancel, only Sellers can do that.

OP1 year agoAlthough eBay refunded the selling fees, I noticed that the Promoted Listing fee was not returned, even though the sale didn’t go through. I think it’s unfair to lose that money over a transaction that was clearly not legitimate. Has anyone else experienced something similar?

I haven't used PLS since the end of 2023 but this eBay Help page states that you would receive the PLS fee credit in the first section: Fee credits | eBay
You might wind up seeing that credit come through after the Buyer accepts the cancellation or the cancellation process concludes. It would be a separate line item on your Recent Activity file on the right side of this page: Seller Hub | Your financial summary | eBay
I know that is how they handle insertion fee credits for auctions that sell and were listed with an insertion fee charge (because I ran out of my monthly allotment for auctions LOL).
You can also request a callback from eBay, they "should" know that answer if it does not show up on your account: eBay Customer Service
