popup adds that appear on eBay website
these are two web addresses involved in a "declined" by my VISA card and an ad that appeared on the ebay website. it was declined because VISA had determined that this was a high risk scam with this ad website.
when i was going to finalize payment as a result of this "survey" site, my BP/AMACO VISA caught it and declined the transaction.
don't know whether ebay has any control here, but any ad link on an ebay web page signals to me that there is at least some credibility to the ad link.
it disturbs me that ebay allows popup ads that are questionable as scams sufficient for my credit card company to decline my transactions.
ebay is my first goto for online buying. when something like this happens it shakes my "trust tree".
i will expect some degree of investigation here and a response to findings through my email.
it has also disrupted my buying activity on ebay this Christmas.
if i were giving feedback to eBay about this, i would rate it as "very concerned"!

online is not a place for the faint of heart or the novice, i guess and thought i would share on the user forum in addition to eBay to see what others' experiences have been.
technology is a powerful tool for so many exceptional ways of accomplishing amazing things that just couldn't be done otherwise.
yet, it can be a scary place for those who wish to use it honestly and wisely but don't have the knowledge or experience you seem to have.
it was dumb. i happened to click on the ad link without intending and thought i would follow it through just to see what it was about. silly but what hackers prey upon. thank God there are the beginnings of auto-safeguards out there that actually work, my credit card company for one.
however, i doubt there will ever be a day where anyone can feel completely secure from those who have only the intention of taking advantage of others who are simply unable to be savvy or capable enough to keep from getting devoured. it truly is a brave nethe w world.
There are so many wonderful benefits to technology. you can pretty much do whatever you can dream.
it can be truly intoxicating, especially to the innocent who simply have no way of gaining the experience necessary to stay out of unsuspected trouble.

Unfortunately there will always be a few who are willing to take advantage of the trust of others to try to get themselves something they are not entitled to. Only the techniques change.

It shouldn't. Ads can be placed by third-party sites that receive little or no screening; previously-screened sites can be taken over by hackers; fake ads can be injected onto legitimate sites through adware or malware, or through browser hijacking.
Any time someone wants to give you a "free gift" for filling out a few multiple choice questions or for spinning an animated "prize wheel", and then asks you for a credit card number to pay for "shipping" for your "free gift", you should assume you are being set up to be scammed for your credit card numbers.
eBay is not here, by the way; this is a user forum. No one will email you.
