Pool parts scam
Summary: gilb4420 shared their experience about attempting to purchase a pool pump part at a tempting price, only to have their cards declined and later find fraudulent charges attempted on two of them. I recently attempted to purchase a part for a pool pump at a ridiculously good price. I tried three separate cards, each of which was declined for various reasons. I gave up. Since then there have been fraudulent charges attempted on two of the cards, each of which are being dealt with by the fraud departments of the card issuers. I did not record the name of the seller. How does eBay screen sellers? Lastly, is there no longer a way to actually talk to a person at eBay? The AI assistant was extremely unhelpful

Mentor1 week agoThe seller never sees any of the buyer's financial information when the buyer is attempting to make a purchase. Everything goes through Ebay.
There is no need to talk to anyone at Ebay. Let the card companies handle the fraudulent charge attempts on your cards.
Did any of the charges go through? Check your Purchase History.

Mentor1 week agoSellers have no idea how a buyer pays. We do not see if it is credit card or PayPal, etc. Payments are processed by a third party. I can assure you that it was not the seller.

OP1 week agoThe purchase was denied on eBay. The purchases showed up in my card records and they were not from eBay

Mentor1 week agoNo. They are processed through eBay and it would say eBay. Since it doesn't, you need to contact your credit card company. It has nothing to do with eBay.
