Please help
I sold a $250 item on eBay. I have the receipt and I sent it signature delivery confirmation. She did not purchase insurance I did not pay for insurance. She received the package and the package was damaged and the box was empty. I called eBay and they said I was protected because it was not my fault. It was the United States post office fault. The box had tape all over it and a new label on it. It was very damaged. She sent me pictures. eBay said I would be covered as a seller. I talked to them three times they told me no worries it would be covered under my seller protection, I sold the item on December 3. The buyer called the police and today I got notice that they charged me $250 for the item because she received the box empty I have sold on eBay for 27 years. My feedback is impeccable. I cannot believe that eBay wrote me and said that they had police documentation. The box was empty. Yes the box was empty. It was completely destroyed. I have contacted the Post Office several times. There is nothing they can do. I did nothing wrong !!!!! I don't believe the buyer did anything wrong either but it's neither one of our faults and I should be protected. But today $250 negative on my account and said the police showed them documentation they had an empty box. I am so very very upset! Please tell me what to do. I have tried calling eBay several times, but they say the phones are down.
