eBay calculates and reports "sold" totals differently for different purposes. For most internal purposes an item is "sold" if there is a buyer who has committed to buy the item, whether s/he pays or not. For others (i.e. for reporting to the IRS what is reported is what the buyer actually paid for your items (price plus s/h, but not sales tax).
