Pickup code prior to receiving item

Question

seller has asked me to provide pickup code and they will leave items at a location to pickup and provide address once code has been provided. eBay instructions say to give the code only after items have been picked up and inspected. Please advise

I would tell the seller that you are not comfortable with having your item left someplace, that you prefer to receive the item in person so you can inspect it.

Let him know that you would be happy to meet at a public place - a police station lobby is a good choice, or the busy parking lot at a mall - in case he is skittish about giving you his home address.
