Pervasive fraud on eBay
I'm a GIA Graduate Gemologist. Nearly every "Natural" sapphire listed on eBay that is of any size is lab-created. The prices for stones that are large (5-200ct) are all under $200. Most are $30 or less. This would be like listing a brand new luxury car for $200. It isn't just cheap, it's impossible. That's not an exaggeration. I've ordered a few in and, sure enough, they're lab-created. These companies live off of buyer's ignorance. I've tried to alert eBay, but the automated/AI verification found nothing wrong with the listings. I can't find a human to talk to, but if you know what you're looking for, it's very easy to spot the fraud. This is just loose sapphires. I'm certain this is an issue with all loose gemstones. I could easily pick out twenty fraudulent vendors right now. Not just listings, I could do hundreds of them. I mean vendors, whole inventories that are fraudulent. I don't know what to do. How can I get eBay to address the pervasive fraud on their site?
