Question

The seller accidentally refunded money for an item bought. They stated they already shipped the item and sent an invoice to my PayPal so I could resubmit payment. I informed them I had been locked out of my PayPal account and hadnâ€™t used it in several years so I couldnâ€™t remember or retrieve any log in info to unlock it. I asked if there was another way I could pay them. They gave me their address and said just to send a personal check. Is this still ok to do? Iâ€™m not trying to somehow get...

#1 Make sure you actually received the refund

#2 Do NOT repay the seller until you receive the item. If the are asking you to pay again before your receive

it then this might be a scam.

Thank you for being an honest buyer. eBay can not reverse the refund.

Since the sale already took place these are eBay approved methods of dealing with the refunding the seller:

You will need to work with the seller to arrange to pay for the item again.

You are allowed to share contact information after a recent sale and it's not considered an offsite sale since the sale already took place.

When you are making a purchase you always have to pay using eBay checkout to be covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee and follow site rules. Since the sale already took place sending a repayment is ok using one of the methods I mentioned above.
