Permanent Restriction remains active despite Policy Team approval — is this a known system sync issu
Hello everyone,
I'm hoping someone here has experienced something similar or can point me in the right direction.
My selling account was placed under review due to Bad Buyer Experience (BBE) defects. I went through the proper appeal process and received written confirmation from an eBay agent stating that the Policy Team had approved my appeal. I was told my account dashboard would refresh within a few days.
After the approval, my account did technically reopen. I was able to relist my items and I even completed a successful new sale. Everything seemed to be back on track.
However, shortly after that sale, all my listings were suddenly hidden again. No email, no notification, no explanation. When I checked my dashboard, my account had been moved to "Permanent Restriction" status — despite the fact that no new violation occurred.
I contacted support again and a second agent confirmed that my records had been "completely removed from evaluation data," meaning the Policy Team's decision was processed on their end. Yet the Permanent Restriction flag is still showing as active.
So the situation is:
- Policy Team approved the appeal ✓
- Evaluation data cleared ✓
- Account briefly reopened and a sale was completed ✓
- Permanent Restriction flag still active ✗
- No new violation, no new notification ✗
This looks like the automated system re-flagged my account during the new sale activity, failing to recognize the manual override from the Policy Team.
Has anyone experienced this kind of contradiction before — where the human decision and the automated system are in conflict? Did you manage to resolve it, and if so, how?
I have already escalated via email referencing the relevant SR numbers and am waiting for a leadership specialist to respond. Just trying to understand if this is a known issue and what the best path forward is.
Thank you in advance.
