Perfumes and Cosmetics Policy
I have been a perfume seller for over 25 years on ebay, my newest perfume is from 1985, so over 40 years old and many collectors value my items. I have perfumes from the 1940's to 1985 because my grandparents had an imports store that left a huge inventory when they closed in 1985...
Anyway, when I have an issue with a buyer that doesn't like the perfume, I offer a full refund if returned, but I always offer a partial refund first and 99% of the time the buyer agrees, many buyers seem to know that a small complain will get them some money in exchange of a positive feedback and I know how to handle it. Recently I had an issue with a buyer, that is also a perfume seller. She purchased a 45 year old 1.5 ml vial for $6, with shipping, ebay fees and packaging I probably lost money in that transaction, however, she complained that the miniature vial volume was 10% lower than the one in the picture, she compared pictures and indeed it was 10% lower, I explained that the missing drop was inside the cap, that she needed to shake the vial so that the drop falls and reaches the advertised volume... well, she got upset and started with negative feedback threats, I offered her a partial refund or a full refund if returned as I always do, she kept saying that if I didn't make this right she was going to leave her first negative feedback, so I just sent her $2 back and told her that if she didn't feel it was fair, she could return the item, so I never heard back, but an hour later, 100 of my perfume listings were reported for policy violation, it seems that if a perfume bottle is not completely full, is considered used and not allowed, but some were banned even when they are full... I later found out that she is also a perfume seller, and 90% of her listings are not full bottles and without box, even tho they're 2-3 year old perfumes, mine are at least 40 years old, so they're not full because partial evaporation, not because they were used.
My question is, how can I reach an ebay representative to explain the situation? I could say 50% of ebay perfume listings are not completely full, if they strictly enforce this policy, a lot of listings will be gone, there should be a category for vintage perfumes, assuming by common sense that some evaporation occurred, I have very rare 60-70 year old sealed perfume bottles which of course are not full (yes they can evaporate even when sealed) but the contents are still good and the bottle is valuable, I wonder if I list them in the "collectible/bottles and tins" category they won't be removed, but how can I know if the automated system is useless and there is no phone number to call a rep anymore?

OP9 months agoI tried to resolve the violation by starting an appeal, but it only let me send 5 appeals, after the fifth an error shows up and can't do more, I suppose you are only allowed to file 5 appeals at a time, it will take me forever to appeal all 100 listings, not considering that this angry member is still reporting the rest of my listings, the problem is that there are listings that don't have a reason to believe there is policy violation, they're full, in box, I don't understand how AI is working with the ebay system...
