Payout being held- an ebay or bank problem?
Our payout is being held by ebay. I am an above standard though low volume seller with all positive feedback and no returns.
I've received notifications from ebay daily, to my email account and in ebay messages, saying-
"Unfortunately, your payout on Jan **, 2026 in the amount of $**,***.** was returned by your bank because your bank account could not be verified. We’ll try resending your payout.
Please check to see if the bank account info you provided is correct. If you have any concerns, please contact your bank."
But the ebay staff member I chatted with on Facebook Messenger says that this is a periodic review and the amount will be deposited in five days. They didn't know anything about the bank returning the payout.
My bank has checked several times and has not seen any attempt by ebay to deposit.
All previous payouts have been deposited with zero issues. I"ve triple checked my banking info with ebay and all is correct.
So which is it? an ebay issue or a bank issue?
I had no idea a hold would happen, so we expected to have the money for an expensive purchase . This makes me want to request our payouts more often instead of the once monthly we originally have our setting on.

OP9 months agoThank you. I just don't understand that if ebay has deposited money into my account every previous month, why is it suddenly an issue?
I've done all of the above except talk to an ebay person. I have only chatted with one in facebook messenger. So I will try customer service next. Thanks again!

Mentor9 months ago@variverrats FB can't access Managed Payments accounts. Use the path I suggested to reach an MP agent.
Sometimes account info needs to be resent. I know that this is frustrating.

Mentor9 months agoSome things that may help with linking or editing your bank account for Managed Payments:
Go to https://www.ebay.com/sh/fin and click on edit your payout method. Click on the "+" Add payment option. Select the bank and click continue. Add the new bank, which will overwrite the old bank information.
Instead of selecting your bank from the pull down menu, scroll all the way to the end and click on "My bank is not on the list" to enter the information manually.
Make sure you are using your bank's preferred ACH routing number for online deposits, as it often is different than the one preceding your account number on your checks.
Make sure your name is exactly the same on your ebay account as it is on your bank account. Change the ebay name if needed, you can change it back later.
Some Credit Union accounts have a problem as does some Bank of America accounts, but usually it is the routing number that is the problem. Call your bank and ask which one to use for ebay.

Mentor9 months ago@variverrats While new and returning sellers are subject to fund holds that message means something is not set up correctly with your checking account.
You will need to contact eBay customer service for assistance.
However I recommend checking a few things as eBay will NOT tell you what doesn't match for security reasons.
1. Verify that name and address on your eBay account matches your checking account and government ID EXACTLY. I had to had my middle name to my eBay account so it would match my checking account and drivers license. You will need to provide your SS#.
2. Make sure the ACH routing number is the correct one to use for these type of deposits. Verify this with your bank.
3. Contact Customer service
Click this link> https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/getting-paid/getting-paid-items-youve-sold?id=4814
Then Type Verify Checking account. In the chat bot box on the lower right. ( don't type anything else)
Then AGENT after the bot responds. You might have to repeat those steps.
