Why are sellers allowed to receive payment for orders before they ship the orders? This is not fair to buyers.

·1 year agoI’m not sure what you mean. You would pay for your order before it ships at any business in the world, but sellers often don’t receive those funds until much later.

OP1 year agoThe seller was paid on 4/21; payment has already appeared on my credit card statement. And yet my order is still marked as unshipped. 5/29 (tomorrow) is the last day of the estimated date of DELIVERY. The seller is based in Turkey. Given that I paid at the same time that I placed my order, As a buyer, I think it's reasonable to ask that the seller not actually receive the payment I made until the order has shipped.

·1 year agoThe charge to your card occurs when you make the purchase. It has nothing to do with either when the order is shipped or when the seller receives the money. The money goes from your card to eBay within the normal processing times of a credit card, eBay then decides based on a number of factors when the seller's payment is made available to them, but it does not go directly from your credit card to the seller's bank account.
Not receiving tracking for the order or having it marked as shipped is not a guarantee that the item has not actually shipped. Regardless of whether it shipped earlier and was simply not marked as shipped, or if it truly has not been shipped yet, you are covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee.
If you do not receive the order by the last estimated date of delivery, you can open a claim for Item Not Received, and the seller will either need to provide tracking that shows recent activity or provide a refund. If they do not respond, you can ask eBay to step in and help.
