Payment Protocols
I've been a eBay'r since 1998...maybe longer.
The recent changes to selling on eBay are troubling to me. We live in a world that has "hackers & scammers" galore and it seems that eBay's limited payment options.
An apparent falling-out with PayPal now removes them as a buffer between eBay, buyers & scammers. PayPal was trusted, easy and convenient. I don't see why this payment option was removed. Can't I decide how I want to be paid?? Listen to the news, personal information is being leaked, hacked or stolen by the minute.
I allow my account to be charged through my credit card...that's one monthly bill, but it feels like this possible "back & forth" on my card, will ultimately lead to confusion and hours to resolve.
However, I do understand why contacting eBay is seemingly impossible...the phones and emails would be going crazy with complaints. It seems to me that the answer for eBay was to offer a few "automated responses and close the department down.
Bad business, guys

Mentor3 years agoNope, you do not get to decide. There was no falling out - eBay sold paypal many of years ago, the intent was always for them to take over payment processing. The transition process started back in 2017, if I remember correctly. All sellers have been paid through the new system since late 2020 or early 2021. So sellers are used to it now.
If you want to sell here, your payments are processed by eBay's processing system. There is little 'back and forth' - fees are deducted from your payments, with the net deposited in your bank account. You can set up a credit card to pay seller costs when you don't have a sale they can be deducted form, like for a return.
You can contact customer service - you have to let them call you, but if you just want to complain, the easiest way is to post a private message on social media. www.facebook.com/ebay www.twitter.com/ebay
To speak to customer service, use the link on the left side of this page “have us call you†- https://www.ebay.com/help/contact_us?id=4002&st=10
If you don't see 'have us call you' right under the chat link, click chat. Then at the bottom of the chat topics, click more, then click contact an agent.
