Can someone please tell me the reason my credit card was charged AUTOMATICALLY after a bid was made by me..on an item? I get a message from seller accepting my bid..next thing I know my the amount was charged to my card and is in the ‘processing stage’. …been a few months since used eBay…..is this a new feature / perk for the seller ???

eBay has a new feature called "autopay" where a bidder or buyer making an offer must supply a payment method prior to a bid or offer. Generally, eBay would merely authenticate the card at first, but would charge the card if an offer was accepted or a bid won the auction.
In the "offer" process, you should be shown the details of a checkout screen where you can change your payment & shipping methods, edit shipping address, and add coupons, as shown in the screenshots below. The bid process is similar, although the fields seem less complete at this time as the bid process is just rolling out.
