Payment on hold?
I sold an item to a buyer. He paid in full. I have 100% feedback and so does the buyer. I have no issues ongoing. Why is Ebay holding MY money in hold?

OP2 years agoThe item/package went out a couple of days ago. Why would they do this?

While your account dates to 2005 as a Seller it has low activity so eBay places holds on money up to 21 days unless the sale is over $ 1000 ... which in your case it isn't. You have one $ 85 sale in the last 90 days.

This also assumes you have registered for eBay's Managed payments so proceeds from your sales are sent to your bank account: Getting paid for items you've sold | eBay

OP2 years agoOk, so what's the justification for putting MY money on hold for any amount of time? Was I supposed to put a Hold on the item sold until the payment cleared into my account? Yeah, I suppose per Ebay policy, I should have. However, what would that do to my Feedback if I place a thirty day Hold on their item after they pay for it until their payment clears into my account? What's the justification?

·2 years agoThe payment won’t be released until AFTER tracking shows delivery to the buyer, so if you try to wait to ship you’ll be in an endless standoff.

Mentor2 years ago@wolfiniron Your comments are not unlike many others dating back to when eBay stopped using PayPal as their Payment Processor and replaced them with a Dutch firm, Adyen. PayPal fronted Sellers their money, Adyen-eBay does not. I never liked the idea myself but when I was using PayPal I was only taking money from my eBay sales once a month. When my account was put in Managed Payments our choices were Daily Payouts or Weekly ... I picked Weekly, sold items and shipped within my 1 day handling time and in time adjusted to the new cashflow. eBay now offers longer payout periods but I will stay with Weekly since I am used to processing the money that way.
I am sure some Sellers added Handling time to wait until they got paid and personally I don't blame them but for my account I did not do that. The justification eBay uses is from a security standpoint against potential hacked accounts from dormancy ... how often does that actually happen considering there are over something like 18 MILLION Selling accounts??? I have no clue but apparently it has happened enough that eBay has changed how they handle money on new or low activity accounts ...

Mentor2 years agoeBay often holds payments for new or infrequent sellers, or for other reasons outlined here:
