Payment Holds
Summary: cbear1309 shares concerns about their son not receiving payment after selling his card collection on eBay. Despite shipping the cards and using USPS tracking, there is no delivery confirmation or updated tracking information. cbear1309 is unsure whether the issue lies with USPS or if eBay will resolve the situation given the seller's new status.
My son is staring to sell his card collection. He sold the first 6 cards he listed, shipped the next day and hasn't been paid. I understand he is a new seller, but we purchased the shipping from ebay for usps and none of the cards are showing delivered or updated tracking for that matter. Onecard was going an 1.5hr away and its been 2 weeks without delivery. Is this a USPS problem or will ebay figure out that the items were mailed with tracking and not the fault of the seller?
Thanks.

Mentor1 month ago@cbear1309 I just want to verify that when you say your son is selling is he at least 18? If not then he won't be able to receive a payout unless he is selling on your account.
However eBay does have fund holds of up to 31 days for new and returning sellers.
You can see the full policy here>
https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/getting-paid/getting-paid-items-youve-sold/payments-hold?id=4816&st=12&pos=2&query=Payments%20on%20hold&intent=payment%20holds&docId=HELP1450
The other issue is that since the eBay Standard Envelope has limited tracking they might not get a delivery scan. This means that his funds will be held for 31 days.
Here are some tips for using the eBay Standard Envelope>
eBay Standard Envelope is metered mail and the tracking can only be read by the sorting equipment.
It is important that the envelope is flexible enough to bend around a standard coffee mug with no lumps, no bubble envelopes or string closures.
You can read about the envelope requirements and insurance coverage on this page> https://www.ebay.com/sellercenter/shipping/choosing-a-carrier-and-service/ebay-standard-envelope
Due to the type of tracking these often do not receive delivery confirmation. Treat these shipments as no news is good news. If the buyer doesn't receive the item then refund them from a item not received refund request case and file a PIP insurance claim.

For future shipments check to see if your post office has a Metered mail drop off box VS the big blue drop box.
