payment holds
I sold an item where the buyer has received it and I still have a hold. Is this normal and how long does it take to receive payment? Also wondering how this is fair as it doesn't protect the seller

Payment for new sellers are held up to 30 days. Expect a 30 day hold on any item over $1,000.

OP10 months agothe problem with this is that it's not protecting sellers. 7-10 day hold seems sufficient. The policy for sellers doesn't seem right. When you go to a store to purchase an item you have to pay to receive it. So in this case a buyer can have the product for 30 days before the seller gets paid? makes no sense and doesn't encourage me to want to sell more here.

The buyer has 30 days to open a claim for an item not as described, so on expensive items eBay will hold the funds to cover the claim period.
Once you are an established seller, the holds get shorter and then are removed completely so that funds are available as soon as they have completed processing - about 2 business days.
