Payment Holds

Question

I am new to Ebay and I'm still not familiar with how everything works but I just made my first sale and did everything step by step according to ebay. I got the shipping label from them and obviously included the tracking number automatically with the product. They said the hold would be released once its been 24 hours since it got delivered but the payment is still on hold. I tried asking the AI chat but it keeps telling me that I need to upload valid tracking details.

The previous answer is correct, expensive first sale items generally have the full 30 day waiting period. That may be even more true if the seller has selected to have a No returns policy. Something you need to realize is, a no returns policy does not fly in the face of ebay's Money Back Guarantee (MBG) if an item doesn't work, is damaged in shipping, or isn't as it was described. The MBG gives buyers up to 30 days from the date of delivery to return items for the above reasons.

If you had posted an accepted return policy the hold could be as short as 21 days.

There is a lot of reading to be done to learn everything you need to know about selling on ebay, and even then, there are things that crop up, that are not covered in the policies. Your best bet to get answers to questions you have about the site are to come to these boards. Here you can get advice from members who have a lot of experience buying and selling on the site, something AI does not have.

I almost forgot to add that one thing every seller needs to know are the MBG's polices and time frames.

Payments for items over $1,000 from new sellers are generally held for 30 days.
