@bobby-doug eBay is required to collect and remit sales tax for buyers purchases in CA. I am guessing that if you are located in CA then the buyer is too, sales tax is based on the BUYERS location.

Since sales tax must be collected the buyer will not be able to pay cash at pick up. They will pay using eBay checkout.

The buyer MUST choose the Local Pick Up option at checkout on your listing and not the shipping method if they want to pick up.

The buyer will receive a code that you enter in the eBay cellphone app to prove delivery. If they can't locate the code then you can have them sign a copy of the sales record but this won't protect you from not received refund requests.

Proof of pickup

Proof of pickup is required to protect you against item not received cases.

For proof of pickup you can:

use the eBay app to scan the QR code the buyer received through email
use the eBay app to manually enter the 6-digit code the buyer received through email

To scan the QR code:

Go to Selling on the eBay App.
Go to the Sold tab.
Select the Arrange Pickup banner.
Tap the Scan to confirm pickup button.

If the buyer doesn't have the QR code available, ask them for the 6-digit code they received through email and manually enter it in the app.
