I recently bought an item and it took the payment from my bank account. How can I change it to go to paypal?

@lenarex If you are making an offer to a buyer that requires a payment method PRIOR to making an offer then you can't use PayPal or a eBay Gift Card.

This is because the system has to put a pending charge on the card. You're not actually charged until the seller accepts the offer.

If you are buying using Buy it Now or win an auction you should have no problem editing the payment method at checkout.

First, are you sure it did NOT go through PayPal? ebay.com does not directly bill a bank account for purchases (other country's eBay sites might have a direct transfer option) it either goes through PayPal or a debit card linked to the account. PayPal gets the money from your bank account if you have set it up to do so. Go to paypal.com to change your payment settings (including for "automatic payments" to eBay) and defaults.

Whenever you are setting up payment for an item (at Checkout for most purchases, when you make an offer where the seller has not opted out of requiring pre-authorization of automatic payment) ALWAYS check the payment source and shipping address and use the Change link if you want something other than the default that is displayed in each section. Don't assume it's going to be the one you want.
