Paying with auto pay
I don't like this. When I buy an item Ebay auto pays. If I buy multiple items from one seller it makes it tough to get a discount with shipping. How do stop Ebay from auto paying for my items? Thanks

·2 years agoSellers have previously had the "immediate payment required" feature available for fixed price listings, and sellers in categories with frequent walk-away (non-paying) buyers took advantage of that feature to prevent frivolous interruptions in listings. But the "timing" nature of auctions and offers could not accommodate immediate payment. Thus, eBay experimented with autopay over the past year and is slowly rolling it out to all buyers.
When a buyer is moved into the autopay program, there is no opting out. However, sellers are able to remove that requirement; and some sellers may not even be aware the ability exists, since it is automatically applied to a seller account. If you think you plan to purchase multiple items from a single seller, you might send a message to ask if they will turn off autopay so that you (and others) can make offers or bids on multiple items from that same seller. Sellers who routinely sell multiples will usually be happy to accommodate.
A seller would look here for that setting:

As an alternative, if you are making offers, you could send an eBay message to the seller from a particular listing and ask if they will initiate an offer for a specified price (which a seller can do from your eBay message). Seller offers do not trigger autopay. Unfortunately, there is no similar workaround for bidding.

OP2 years agoThank you for your response. I really wish Ebay would allow buyers to opt out as well. It would make things much easier for me.

·2 years agoUnfortunately, due to the large number of non-paying or "sport" or "scam" bidders and offers, eBay can not let buyers opt out, as that would simply negate any efforts to address the underlying problem. It will be up to the seller to make that determination. With your long history, it should be easy for a seller to decide. 🙂
