While attempting to change my password, I kept getting a message that I was using invalid symbols. However, these disliked symbols were not identified, nor was a list of acceptable one offered. I was forced to use only letters and numbers.

Mentor2 years agoI found an old post on Stack Exchange that had some discussion about this issue.
According to that post, allowed symbols include:
The speculation is that eBay had a different list of symbols commonly used in SQL-injection type attacks, and disallowed all those.
eBay says very little directly on this subject, but does say the following: "If you’ve tried to change your password more than 5 times in the last 24 hours, you’ll need to wait 24 hours before trying again."
