Paid more for shipping than buyer
Summary: robka11 expressed frustration over a discrepancy in shipping costs when selling an item. They noticed a difference between the $9.95 shipping fee they expected and the $6.10 paid by the buyer through a discount on the platform, which resulted in only receiving $6.20 after printing the shipping label. They are concerned about this recurring and are unable to contact support for assistance.
This is petty, but I don't want it to happen over and over again....I sold an item and I believe there was an 'ebay discount' that the buyer might've applied to their purchase. I briefly saw a link that the shipping was $9.95, but they paid only $6.10 through ebay. I printed the ebay shipping label out and it was $6.20. Yes, it's only 10c, but if this continues to happen then it'll add up. And since the buyer was supposed to pay for shipping, I don't understand how this happened. Has this occurred for anyone else? And of course I can NOT contact an ebay representative about this so it's VERY frustrating!

Mentor1 week agoYou may have underestimated the shipping when you created the listing. I see $6.10 shipping charge, flat rate instead of calculated shipping on your listing.
If you want accurate shipping charges, you should use calculated shipping based on location of buyer and exact weight and precise dimensions of the prepackaged item.
Here's how to use calculated shipping when listing your items:
In the Shipping section of your listing, select Calculated: Cost varies by buyer location.
Next to Services, select Calculate Shipping.
In Package details in the Shipping Calculator, enter your package type, dimensions, and weight.
In the Your details section, enter your ZIP code and any handling fees.
Select Calculate shipping.
Select the shipping services you want to offer, and drag them into the order you want buyers to see them.
Select Offer shipping services.
Complete your listing.
