Package was returned to sender - how do I get a new label?
I sold an item and shipped it but it got RTS because the buyer has moved and USPS was unable to forward. Buyer has given me their new address but I'm not sure how to send again without having to pay for a new label?

OP8 months agoThank you! I talked to eBay customer service after posting this question and they said I could just handle it outside of eBay so the buyer just sent me Venmo for the additional postage. Quick and easy solution!

Big sigh...
What the eBay rep didn't tell you is that you cannot change the address on an eBay shipping label without losing your Seller Protection. You'll need to purchase the label at a site like Pirate Ship or at the post office. Depending on where the buyer moved, the shipping cost may be different and you may end up eating any extra cost.

I agree with @inceptions and eBay gave you BAD advice and we see this on a regular basis. While there are work arounds outside of eBay you have NO protection ... "quick and easy" isn't always the best solution.

Here's what to do...
Refund the buyer for the item price only (not including shipping unless you offered free shipping) and relist it for the buyer to re-purchase with the correct address. Send the buyer a message to explain why the package was delivered and provide the new item #.
Remind the buyer to use the Change link below the displayed shipping address on the checkout window before he submits his payment.
