Package got lost in a hurricane. Who gives the refund?
Summary: radscents expressed frustration over their inability to get personalized support from eBay for a unique issue involving a package lost in a hurricane. They are unsure who is responsible for refunding the buyer, believing it should be either eBay or the post office since they sent the package. comics-scifi-collectibles suggested that the seller is responsible for the refund and advised them to file a postal insurance claim afterwards, providing a link to eBay's help page for further guidance.
This is frustrating. Can't get help from eBay; only automated stuff. My case is unique.
I sold an item to a buyer in Hawaii. There was a hurricane there so the package never arrived. It probably got lost or destroyed. The buyer is requesting a refund. Is that my responsibility? I sent the package, I should not have to pay for it. I think either eBay or the post office should give the refund. But it's impossible for me to get any personalized help from eBay.
Please help!

Mentor3 weeks agoYou are responsible for making the refund. If the package was insured then you claim the insurance from the shipping carrier or insurance company. Keep in mind that this may be considered an act of GOD and not covered.

Mentor3 weeks ago@radscents I know that this is frustrating but as the seller you are responsible for refunding the buyer.
Then you file a postal insurance claim to get your money back. The buyer doesn't wait for the insurance payout, if any. This should be a pretty easy claim though since the hurricane is a recorded event.
