package arrived slit open and item I bought was missing

All I have is the empty envelope with the Seller's name and address. I need help to pair this with the missing item. HOW DO I DO THIS????

@sgwl_1 I want to clarify that no matter what the item is the Buyers only concern is to file a does not match pictures or description refund request. If you file a not received refund request then you lose because tracking shows delivery.

Refund request for trading cards do have to be filed within 3 days of the date of delivery.

For all other items you have 30 days from the date of delivery.

What type of insurance claim the seller files is up them AFTER they refund you.

Open a return with the reason doesn't match pictures or description.

First off, if you got an empty package that was tampered with the item is gone and cannot be recovered. Was it expensive?

Was it a collectible card shipped via eBay's Standard Envelope, meaning it does not have the normal tracking number? If so you can read the Help Page: eBay standard envelope | eBay

Note that the "claim" process on that page covers what Sellers can do if an item has gone missing in shipping.

If not a collectible card then you file a return claim using the reason does not match pictures or description, you will be issued a pre paid shipping label to send the empty package back to the seller. They will have 2 days to process the refund once tracking shows it has been delivered to them. You can get this process started via the selections on that item in your Purchase history.
