overcharged for sales tax
Ebay overcharging for sales tax. My state tax is 5% and county tax is 0.5% for a total of 5.5%. Item cost $40.99 and shipping was free. 5.5% is $2.26. I was charged $2.80 which is 6.8% Is everybody being ripped off by ebay?

More states than not apply the tax tot he shipping as well as the item. Does the rate work out if you apply it to the item + shipping?
