Overcharged for Ebay calculated Shipping
2 Lbs. 6 x6 x5 package shipped to Eagke River Alaska. Calculated price $11.84. Back charged for shipping $33.81. total shipping I was charged $45.64. I have yet to receive information from EBay regarding this situation. Anyone? I am now suspicious of a scam going on within EBay.

Mentor1 month agoI have no idea where Eagle River, AK is located, but if I were to ship anything to AK, I would use USPS only. Fed Ex and UPS would charge ridiculous fees to ship packages to rural areas in AK, and I believe most of AK is considered rural.

After much research I have determined that the USPS has charged me for three 'manifests', three tracking numbers, and three shipping charges on a single package; of which only one tracking number has been shown delivered. The others are still being "in the process of being delivered'. They will never be delivered as they do not exist. As usual the USPS has charged EBay for three shipping labels and Ebay has charged me for three shipping labels, of which I only purchased one.

What was the carrier you chose for the shipment? Personally, I would think a shipment weighing 2lbs to Alaska would cost more than 11.84, but I never ship there, as its part of my exclusions.
Many shippers have been hitting sellers with extra charges, FedEx is one of the worst offenders in this area. Even if you have all the dimensions correct, weight correct, package type correct.
That doesn't exclude the possibility of a calculation mistake within the shipment tools, but it also could be to do with a difference in local rules at the destination that might not be part of the calculation or they change more frequently. Most surcharges are based on residential vs business, rural vs urban, that sort of thing. And the shipment calculations can get it wrong.
I would check pirateship and see if the same cost is calculated there or if its different. I use them sometimes if I'm shipping something that I worry about an upcharge hitting my shipment costs.

You can get refunded on the extras. If you are showing in your eBay transaction history purchasing three labels, request a cancellation of the two extra ones. Refunds may take up to 2 weeks, potentially more.
If you are not seeing a recorded transaction for these in eBay, then you will need to file a claim with USPS directly.
