Over the Counter Product and other restrictions that get your account suspended.
We've been selling on eBay for over 15 years. This problem has happened more times than I can count. The dreaded "your account has been suspended for OTC violations". We have removed listings....
Reason: Looks like steroids etc... Many different reasons over the years and strangely seems to happen during the Nov Dec months for us.
The items are available at all of your local retailers so they can't and are not steroids. The other reasons are the same. Available local without a prescription.... Yes thats another. "prescription medication" policy.
If you have ever run into this you understand that calling is a waste of time but you always want to find out why and how can it be avoided. On some of my calls I have been told that because people can buy overseas and these items may be illegal overseas. OK!!!! Great. Problem solved and we turn off out overseas selling option. Wrong!! Still the same problem. I have even been told that there are certain ingredients that get listings taken down. Really, I need to be a chemist to sell on eBay too!?!
At any rate, we suffer through out 3-5-7 or 10 day suspension which makes no sense to me because eBay looses the income too. I understand them eBay doesn't seem to care or at least the person you finally speak with but why in the world as big as eBay is not just restrict the item before it's able to be listed. As many people get this surely they could compose a list that says "this item is restricted" before allowing a seller to list it. Our account hasn't been suspended for this in awhile and it's at this time but we are afraid to list things that we have in stock for fear of this. We see many other sellers selling the exact items that we were restricted for and even know of another that sources from the same wholesaler as us.
Does anyone know the answer to this problem? Does anyone know how I can get the answer to this problem? Has this problem been fixed now and we are just unable to list certain items? Has anyone else had similar issues? This one has been bugging me for years. Thank you
