Outbid at the very end of auction
I have bought several items on EBay over the years. Recently I put a bid on an item that was at $5 with seven seconds left. I was immediately outbid. My bid was $15.07 and the higher bid was $15.57. I understand how sniping works, I do it. However, what puzzled me on this one is the winning bidder placed his bid over an hour prior to mine AND they were not the current high bidder at $5. What am I missing here? It seems if they had put a bid of $15.57 (or more) an hour prior to mine, they would have been the high bidder when I bid.

Mentor1 year agoIf the bidder that outbid you placed one bid an hour before you did, and that bid wound up winning, that bidder was the high bidder even if you did not see that bid until after you bid.
