Original oil painting
I buy storage units and I found an original oil painting very old of what looks to be a 17th century cavalier or captain of a ship he's clutching a scroll in his hand is on his sword in the background is his ship and what looks to be a couple of Spanish soldiers I've been looking for weeks for information and haven't gotten anywhere till a couple of days ago the painting is signed in gold paint and it's signed in cursive in the left hand corner Frantz while looking for old artwork with cavaliers that came across the exact same picture as my painting but the picture is portrayed on the front of a whiskey bottle from the 1950s Lord Calvert Canadian whiskey distillery they used this image for many years especially on their distinguished men advertising can anybody tell me or help me the only thing that I can find through that company is that the advertising department said that that picture of a cavalier or sea captain or nobleman it's just a depiction of someone made up but it is the exact picture of my painting I don't know if there's a way I could put the picture on here to show you but please let me know what you think thank you

You could start your search by posting a photo of the painting on the Community Board for Art.
There are some experienced Buyers and Sellers there who volunteer to help identify artwork.
