Ordering from an ebay selling but getting the item from Amazon
I ordered an item from ebay late on 10/9.
(this is where it gets strange...)
It arrived either 10/11 - BUT
Tracking from the seller indicated it was coming via Fed Ex
"Shipped on 10/13"
"Delivered on 10/16" (Are you confused yet?)
When I contacted the seller and said I didn't receive a package on the 16th she insisted I received the item!
I am insisting I didn't receive anything on the 16th.
She then sent a photo of a delivery apparently from Fed Ex, of the package and said it was delivered on the 11th, which was Friday. That package was from Amazon, not ebay. I had been looking at the same item there so I thought perhaps I might have bought it through Amazon.
I think I just figured out what happened and I'm wondering if this is "legal" to do under ebay's policies.
I think she sold me the item and then purchased it for less from Amazon and had it shipped as a gift with free shipping to me. It wasn't actually her merchandise. There is actually "A Gift For You" gift receipt included in the package along with an Amazon packing slip with the original sellers name.
Is this practice accepted by ebay?

This is what I thought but I couldn't find it in the policies. When I checked the seller last night, she has another of the same "last item" for sale - but at a little higher price this time. If I choose to report this, where would I look for contact information at ebay?

It's called drop shipping and it is allowed on eBay.
Unfortunately I think.

Drop shipping is permitted, but doing it the way @poll-562 @described is not permitted.
A seller can drop ship from a wholesale company that they have an agreement with. A seller who also sells on Amazon can store their inventory with Amazon and have it shipped by Fullfillment by Amazon. What they can NOT do is sell on eBay, buy the item on Amazon, and have it shipped to the buyer with a gift receipt. This is a policy violation on both Amazon and eBay, and @poll-562, I encourage you to report them to both sites.
