Ordering an item from UK

I am trying to purchase a wooden revolver box from a UK seller. When I make an offer eBay tells me: â€œUnfortunately, this item cannot be shipped to United Statesâ€. Why? It is a small, empty box which the seller wants to sell.

Do they ship to the US?

It could be the wood it's made from and not allowed to be imported/exported.
