Ordered item has wrong address to send it to.
Just sold an item. Buyer realized she had wrong address and cancelled the order. I declined the cancellation because I didn't know what to do. I believe eBay was going to charge me for the cancellation which I can not afford. Buyer wants the item but neither of us knows how to change the address. I have not printed the label as of yet. I hope this makes sense.

Mentor8 months agoHi @pwil-23
Cancelling the sale is the right thing to do and the Buyer can correct their address and then purchase the item again.
You need to ship to the address on file at the time of purchase and NOT to a messaged address, you would lose your Seller protection shipping to a different address.
You can Refund the Buyer their purchase, use the drop down menu on the left on the item in you All orders file and if Cancel is not there scroll down to Send refund and refund the entire purchase. You can use the drop down menu and either Relist (if that choice is there) or use the Seller Similar function which creates a duplicate listing. Once it is active you can copy the new eBay Item number and message it to the Buyer, they can paste the number in the eBay Search window and go right to the item to purchase it.
When you refund and if the funds are on hold your back up payment method should kick in unless you have other sales and your Available funds can cover the refund amount.

You are more than welcome ... sadly, some relatively simple processes have been complicated by the venue.

OP8 months agoThank you for your help. I followed your advice and it all worked out. I also learned something new with regards to cancellations; that I definitely need to brush up on reading into eBay buying/selling procedures. Would've saved everyone the hassle.
Again, many thanks mr_lincoln!!

No hassle at all, the issue from what I understand is that eBay put an extra layer in the process where Buyers can "request" a cancellation or refund or return. The requests sound like the block certain features and functions for some unknown length of time. eBay is good at making wonderful announcements about wonderful features but then fall short in explaining the details ...
One recent example is the new Seller protection they launched as follows:
eBay launched a new Seller Protection for sellers who print their labels through eBay. If a Seller loses a Buyer’s claim that they did not receive their item and refunded the Buyer then eBay will reimburse the Seller IF the package is delivered later and tracking confirms the delivery.
Now granted THAT is a great protection but they have NOT given us any idea how long after the delivery is confirm that the Seller is reimbursed ... and since this is all about money people want to know and we can't tell them.

OP8 months agoYes. No matter how I referenced my issue, framed my question, each response was vague from a not-so-well-seasoned seller's standpoint. I went round and round with the AI bot. Hence, my reason for turning to my fellow resellers.
I just recently got back into reselling after a lengthy hiatus due to my ongoing battle with an insidious disease. I am remembering now that reselling is not so black and white. I panicked yesterday when the buyer cancelled and at the end of the day, I lost the sale. But I gained knowledge, thanks to you, if this situation should arise again. I could have forfeited my seller protection. Lost the item and the money.
You are definitely a wealth of information and I hope that I can turn to your expertise in the future if need be.
And again, many thanks!!
