Ordered item for over $500 USD says delivered but was never here.
I made a claim with USPS as soon as I realized it wasn't in my mailbox or on my doorstep. Ebay says that they aren't liable when the tracking shows delivered but USPS emailed me a claim saying they sent the delivery guy back out and he wasn't able to locate it. USPS does not have the function to change the tracking once it says "delivered". I then am referred to getting a police report so Ebay could file a manual refund, which also got denied. It's been over a month since it was purchased, any suggestions I'm at my wits end. I just want my money back at this point, I've been on eBay for over 10 years and never had a situation happen like this.

·1 year agoAccording to what you just posted from the USPS, it was delivered to the correct address, at least according to their records. If it was stolen after it was delivered, you’d need to file a police report.

Did the post office say where it had been delivered, if not to your address? Was the package actually addressed to you?
If you can get some kind of documentation from the post office -- something in writing that says it was not delivered to your address -- you may be able to contact eBay via social media direct message and inform them you have a case of "false tracking". Make it clear the problem was on the post office's end and not the seller's end, since many "false tracking" issues involve a seller scam or a drop-shipper scam, unless the address on the package actually was not yours.

OP1 year agothis is what usps said ( can't upload photos for some reason )
This is in response to your recent inquiry regarding the delivery of a package.
Tracking Number 9400
According to our tracking records, your package was scanned delivered to the correct address on 4/25/2025, but it appears you did not receive it.
A carrier was sent out to check your mailbox for the package. A photo was also sent to the carrier so that they were aware of what to look for.
The carrier could not find the item that was scanned delivered. He looked through multiple mailboxes and could not find the item just in case it was scanned delivered into the wrong address.
Since your item was insured, you may file a claim for loss online at https://www.usps.com/help/claims.htm. Proof of value is required and should be submitted online as an uploaded file pdf or jpeg).
You may also file your claim by mail by completing a Form 1000 and mailing the original copy to the address indicated on the form, accompanied by proof of value. You may obtain Form 1000 by calling 1-800-332-0317.
As information, proof of value requires at least one of the following: a sales receipt, an invoice or bill of sale, a cost statement for replacing Priority Mail Express service documents, a copy of the canceled check, a copy of the money order receipt, a copy of the credit card billing statement, or a final or complete transaction sheet indicating the amount deducted from an Internet account. Please retain a copy for your records.
Retain your original mailing receipt, showing that the particular service was purchased, until the claim is resolved or until you receive written notification from the Postal Service to make the receipt available. If the Postal Service does ask you to make the receipt available, please retain a copy for your records.
For additional information on filing domestic claims, visit the Postal Service Web site at https://faq.usps.com/s/article/Domestic-Claims-The-Basics.
Please accept our sincere apology for any inconvenience this matter may have caused you.

OP1 year agoThen Ebay said this today
Hello E,
Here are the details that you requested regarding your case and its appeal.
USPS 9400
Delivered
Delivered, In/At Mailbox
LOS ANGELES, CA 90010
April 25, 2025, 12:33 pm
Manual Correction has been denied.
***** THIS DECISION WAS RECOMMENDED BY GUIDED JUDGEMENT ***** REASON: The buyer has appealed an INR. Tracking on the case indicates that the item was delivered to the buyers location. The buyer is not eligible for a Stolen From Porch
If USPS said "The carrier could not find the item that was scanned delivered. He looked through multiple mailboxes and could not find the item" I don't see how they can keep falling back on the "the was scanned delivered" usps can't change the tracking once it says delivered they can only update via claim. Its honestly childish at this point but $500 isn't chump change at least to me.
Sincerely,
