·2 years agoYou are obligated to pay for the item you won. The time to do your comparison shopping is before you bid, make an offer, or otherwise commit to buy a particular item in a particular listing, or after you don't win/ offer is declined or expired. Bidding is not a game and winning an auction is not an "award, it is a contract to buy the item that you promised to pay for if you won.
You may ask the seller to cancel the order but s/he is under absolutely no obligation to do so at your request, and can insist you pay or ignore your request or say "OK I'll cancel it" and wait out the 4 days you have to pay and cancel for non-payment with no further notice to you, leaving you a strike that counts toward an automatic block that many many sellers use to keep serial non-payers (2 in 12 months) from being able to bid/offer/buy their items, and it affects your buying limits in a couple of different ways.
