order confirmations
I quit using Ebay severalyears ago. I recently ordered from ebay and all of a sudden I'm getting tons of fake " Order Confirmation" emails. Did anyone have this experience? Is this a Data breach on EBAY?

Mentor2 years agoAre the emails actually from eBay, or just from someone else pretending to be eBay?
If the latter, do the messages contain any information specific to your eBay account other than your email address?
If not, that sounds more like a run-of-the-mill phishing email sent blindly to thousands of email addresses at random, and not an indication of any sort of breach connected with eBay.

OP2 years agoThey are no doubt phishing emails I was just meaning it looked like the must have got my email address from ebay data base since they all started showing up soon after I accessed my ebay acct.

Mentor2 years agoPhishing emails pretty much by definition are identical emails sent to thousands of addresses as bait intended to provoke a response.
The fact that you made a recent eBay purchase is likely coincidental.
I routinely get eBay phishing emails sent to addresses that have absolutely no connection to eBay at all. And social media phishing emails, and IRS and INS phishing emails, and every other imaginable kind.
If there had been some sort of data breach the email would likely contain specific information connected to your account. Or you would be seeing details of actual orders made rather than fake ones.
