Order cancelled due to address issue
Summary: chad475 shared a frustrating experience where a seller canceled their order, citing an address issue, only to later offer the same item at a much higher price. monroe67 suggested the seller likely made a pricing error and used the address issue as a pretext, noting that such actions can lead to seller penalties on eBay. comics-scifi-collectibles recommended reporting the seller for using false cancellation reasons and provided a link for doing so. chad475 confirmed their address is accurate after successfully making new purchases, indicating the seller's claim was unfounded.
Seller cancelled my order stating there was an issue with my address. When I contacted the seller so that I could resolve the issue before I made future purchases they told me that it was on eBay. They were not sure what eBay’s issue was but had contacted eBay to figure something out. Mind you the order was already cancelled. A day later the seller sent me an offer for the exact same item for 3 times the original purchase price. I called them out on it. All I got back was they were not sure what happened on their (eBay’s) end. I’ve made many purchases over the years with absolutely no issues whatsoever with my address. Sounds to me like seller made a pricing error and cancelled the order. Any other opinions on this and any advice as to what to do about it. Also is there an easy way to contact eBay customer support so that I can confirm that there is an issue with my account information. I’ve looked at my account profile and found no discrepancies with my address.

Mentor2 weeks ago@chad475 eBay does not cancel orders as problem with buyers address unless a seller chooses that option.
I recommend reporting the seller.
https://www.ebay.com/help/action?topicid=4022 suspicious activity> other
Then say in the box that the seller selected problem with buyers address for the cancelation reason to prevent receiving a Defect

OP2 weeks agoThank you for the advice!! To verify that there is no problem with my account I communicated thoroughly with the latest seller of my purchase today. They were awesome enough to ship today with no problem at all. To me that is pretty much proof positive that my account information is accurate and readily accessible.

Mentor2 weeks agoYour presumption is probably accurate and true:
The seller made a pricing error and cancelled the order.
What you can do about this situation is basically nothing. Make a note of the seller's eBay ID and don't buy from him again.
There probably is nothing "wrong" with your address.
Sellers have only a few options to choose as the reason for cancelling an order.
"Problem with Address" is probably the least objectionable reason, so it is often chosen.
The computers of eBay, Inc., of course, have access to the seller's address, your address, and lots of other details. When a seller improperly chooses "Problem with Address" as a cancellation reason, eBay will know.
The seller will get a defect on his selling record. Too many of those, and eBay can sanction him with selling limits and/or higher fees; worst case, eBay will suspend him indefinitely.

OP2 weeks agoBtw I just made two new purchases and will see very soon if there is indeed an issue with sellers acquiring my personal information from eBay.

OP2 weeks agoUpdate….one of the purchases has been processed and the item has been shipped without an issue. The seller’s local post office is open on Sunday.
