Order Cancellation Ethics
Summary: rooster6133 shared a frustrating experience where a seller cancelled their order and relisted the item at a higher price, prompting a discussion on the ethical responsibilities of sellers in online marketplaces. They asked if others have faced similar situations, how to handle such cancellations, and whether stricter regulations or penalties should be implemented by online platforms to ensure fair dealing.
Hey everyone,
I recently had a frustrating experience where a seller cancelled my order, only to relist the same item at a higher price soon after. This kind of unexpected cancellation can be disheartening, especially after spending time researching the best deals. It got me thinking about the ethical responsibilities sellers have in online marketplaces.
Has anyone else encountered a similar situation?
How do you handle it when a seller cancels an order for seemingly opportunistic reasons?
Do you believe there should be stricter regulations or penalties for this kind of practice?
How do you think online platforms can ensure fair dealing?
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences.

Mentor3 weeks agoIt is frustrating and disappointing, for sure, to buy something on Ebay and have the seller cancel the transaction.
You can report the seller:
https://www.ebay.com/help/action?topicid=4022
Choose "Suspicious seller activity"
Then on next page choose "Seller doesn’t want to complete the sale"
In the details, you can state that the seller cancelled the transaction and relisted the item for a higher price.
By the way, the seller received a defect from Ebay when they unilaterally cancelled the transaction.
