options for seller when usps denies claim
Summary: rab_the_lab expressed frustration with the USPS claims process after a damaged item led to a denied insurance claim due to lack of inspection by the buyer. They followed eBay's policies by reimbursing the buyer and are seeking advice on how to handle similar situations in the future, asking what options sellers have in such circumstances.
I am very frustrated with the claims process for sellers. Had an item shipped with USPS that was arrived damaged. Buyer filed a return request because item was damaged. I reimbursed them per EBay policy and filed an insurance claim with USPS to include the photo depicting damage that buyer sent me. USPS denied my claim saying they needed the damaged item taken to a local USPS center for inspection. I reached out to buyer and relayed the request numerous times but never heard from the buyer and assumed they never did take item in because USPS denied my insurance claim and appeal. Do you have any suggestions as actions to take if this happens again? What options does the seller have?

Mentor1 week agoThis can be a real problem to be sure. Ebay nor sellers can force a buyer to comply with the needs of filing an insurance claim. I'm sorry this didn't work out for you, but there is nothing you can do to force the buyer to do this.
