on Vacation and can't mail order in time?
I am on vacation and one of my items just sold. I won't be back for 7 days. I have sent an email to the buyer explaining the situation and asking if she is willing to wait. Fingers crossed. How do I let Ebay know what is going on so I am not penalized when I don't get my label printed in time?

Mentor2 years agoIf you are going to be away and not able to ship, you need to either increase the handling time on your listings or set up Time Away.
Learn about Time Away options here:

You WILL receive a ding to your shipping metrics for shipping this order late. Just take steps now to avoid another one.

-With regard to being away for extended periods consider eBay's Time away feature: Time Away | eBay
-Regarding the sold item: if the Buyer lets you ship late without filing an item not received claim you will receive one late shipping defect by not getting the carrier Acceptance scan within your Handling time (assuming it is less than 7 days). Depending on your selling level the defect will roll off your account in either 90 days (if memory serves) or 12 months.
-If the Buyer files an item not received claim one day after the original estimated delivery you have 4 days to upload a valid tracking number or you can refund them through the claim if you will not make it back in time to ship. If you do not reply to the claim and the Buyer asks eBay to step in and they close the claim in the Buyer's favor your account will get a defect for not resolving the claim issue ... this is not a good defect to have.
