Old purchase was wrong
Hello, I purchased an item about 6 months ago. It was for a classic car that I am currently restoring. When I received the items, my car was at the mechanic getting some work done. I opened the box, saw that the items needed to be cleaned up but they were as described in the original eBay listing.
fast forward to 2 weeks ago, I took the items out of the original box and began restoring them. I restored the items and when I tried to install them on the vehicle, I noticed that the seller had sent me 2 of the same items for the front of the vehicle, meaning both items were to be installed on the left side of the car when it was supposed to be 1 for the left and 1 for the right. I checked the original listing and confirmed that it was supposed to be 1 for the left and 1 for the right.
this is a blatant mistake by the seller rendering this item completely useless for me. I can’t find a replacement for just the one side and now will have to purchase another set.
I’ve reached out to the seller to let him know of the mistake but of course he didn’t answer. At the very least I think I should be able to leave feedback on the item but I can’t even do that.
Is there anything I could do in this situation? I don’t think the seller should just be able to send out the wrong parts and get away scott free.

Mentor2 years agoYou have the eBay 30 day money back guarantee, which you should have utilized at that time. Waiting this long, there is nothing that can be done on eBay because the return time frame has passed. The seller cannot even see the original transaction. If you can't go through your credit card, I'm afraid there is nothing that can be done.

There is nothing you can do through eBay.
You could try calling your credit card issuer and see if they will open a dispute for an item not as described - most cards will help for about 6 months.

OP2 years agoThat’s a great idea, unfortunately it was a prepaid Amex and I can no longer dispute it. I just tried.
the seller just contacted me, insulted me and blocked me because I reached out to him a few times over the last week or so.
so ridiculous. Thanks for the reply!
