Offers for items
I received an offer for an item in auction that I thought was fair and accepted. I was told by the buyer they had paid but the order did not show up in orders or in any of the accounts I use for receiving payment. They said I need to add a tracking number which is true but I am hesitant do ship anything until I see commitment in eBay or PayPal the the funds are eminent. Should I see indications in orders or the selling center that indicates activity

As a new seller, you will not see the payment come through yet (you'll receive it sometime after the package is delivered. Until then, it will be in your pending funds). But if the buyer paid, it will be marked as such in the order details for the transaction.
If it's not, advise the buyer that he has not yet completed payment and that you will ship once eBay marks the order as paid.
You will never see a payment in PayPal as eBay will send the payment to the checking account you set up.
If he is a scammer, he may try to talk you into something else, so come back here if you need more help.

Don't ship until you see the item is paid in ebay, you an see the money in your eBay account, and eBay is prompting you to ship.
I see a pocket watch that the auction ended.
I cannot see if the buyer paid, but you should be able to see that payment.
I see a wristwatch which has an active auction. You can't accept a best offer on this, let the auction run.

OP6 months agoThat is what I thought as well. As this was my first seen I learned a couple things. one of those was add a reserve. The item is the Corum Bubble item 257392668430. The buyer is Robertr183s.

Actually, adding a reserve is a waste of money as you'll pay a hefty non-refundable fee for it ($5.00 or 7.5% of reserve price, whichever is greater (with a maximum of $250), charged whether or not your item sells). Better to start the bidding at the least you'd be happy with.
The item # you mentioned is still active so the item hasn't sold. Since it's not listed with Best Offer, you could not have accepted an offer.
I would invite the buyer to join in the bidding and that you will allow the auction to run to completion to be fair to all interested buyers who may be waiting to bid near the end of the auction (when most bidding occurs).

has NOT sold. It is a live auction with 4 different bidders and 5 more days to go. Plus 18 watchers.
Most bids come in the last seconds of a listing.
Even if you wanted to sell it to a 3rd party, it would be an expensive mistake right now. As you would owe double the final value fees, and possibly lose your eBay account.
Rest assured that the fellow contacting you and reporting that they have paid is trying to scam you.
Did you give him your email address or cell phone? You will get more messages from him.
